The capybara is the largest rodent in the world, native to South America. It typically weighs between 77 to 146 pounds (35 to 66 kilograms) and can grow to about 4 feet (1.2 meters) in length. Capybaras have a distinctive appearance with a large, barrel-shaped body, short legs, and a small head with large eyes and ears.
They are social animals, often found in groups near water bodies like rivers, lakes, and swamps. Capybaras are herbivores, primarily feeding on grasses and aquatic plants. Their semi-aquatic lifestyle enables them to be excellent swimmers, with webbed feet that aid in navigating through water.
In many cultures, capybaras are generally seen as friendly and docile animals, and they often interact peacefully with other wildlife.
